the things that stand out the most is the age of the real eddie. I didnt guess that he was real because i thought he was just another character in another fictional book he was well developed and authors usually have a muse but i didnt realise it was fully based on an actual person

smashing glass - this is shown to us in the begining in lolas apartment, the casino and when the ambulence hits the glass i think it leads to the idea of unreality and also the power she has in the movie - two out of the three times she screams and glass smashes. Also because of her actions the ambulence smashes the glass. so it all shows her power and the power manni believes she has.

This scene gives the sense of urgency that runs throughout the whole film. The amount and speed of the cuts builds tension - in aid of the music. The dominoes also show the idea of interconnectivity and how every action leads onto another. The sound of the cash register also gives the idea of who she can get the money from.

no story sits alone - i think this means that other peoples actions affect many people and even small seemingly insignificant occurances can change anything.
Endings are also beginings - i think that this means that with the ending of one era is also the begining of the next like childhood to being a teenager or school to work.

i think that time is just a concept, a way to measure the passing days and you cannot control the passing of days its just going to keep happening and there is nothing that anyone will ever be able to do to stop that. There would be nothing i would change - of course i have regrets but i think you are the sum of your experiences whether they are good or bad and if you "delete" all the bad ones from your life you would be naive and unknowing forever and half the fun of life is learning about the good AND the bad.

I think Lola's determination is a very important characteristic as it is how she gets the money in the second and third sequences her determination helps her succeed. Also her initative is a very important characteristic as it also helps her get the money. Her love for mannie gives her the drive to succeed and protect him from danger.

I think dependency is an important idea Lola's dependency on mannie and her father, mannies dependency on lola and the money. I also think fear of betrayal mannie feeling betrayed by lola when she wasnt there, Lola being betrayed by her father, mannie afraid that lola wont do anything, Lola feeling betrayed by her mother and father because she is not his child. LOVE is a very important idea the love of mannie and lola and the continual questioning of it also the love of lola for her father in the begining of the sequences. Also the idea that love conquers all - mannie and lola overcome the obstacles. Also death/new beginings are important ideas because when lola dies it is also the introduction of the new sequence.

Lola has wicked awesome hair. I found that this also reflected in her personality she is a little alternative - her father a banker also appears to be a strict man has raised her yet she has been dating a dimwitted gang member for a year perhaps she went a little off the rails.

Mannie - the first image of him was him crying and begging in a phone box i dont know why i think so (so dont ask please) but mannies facial expressions seem to be blank and it makes him look simple.

Mannie seems to be a little bit simple the mistakes he makes - such as leaving $100 000 on a train?!!!!! Seriously!!!!! and the way he talks to lola makes him seem a little dim witted it was like he expected her to fix everything he is a little naive methinks

Yes i believe that our choices can have that much impact ie. The difference between taking a car or walking can be the difference between being hit by a car or getting to your destination even the tiniest choices we make can effect the rest of our lives.

i think that all the narrative techniques suit the film apart fom the anamation sequence it seems out of place and is a little confusing so far i like the image the director has created as it is unconventional (sp?) and does not follow stereotypes such as male dominance The zoom in sequence set the scene for the movie as it was fast paced and also showed where the story takes place.

favourite films? difinitive endings you ask

Well theres this french subtitle film called Amelie its kind of an arty movie but its really awesome and in the end you know EXACTLY what happens she gets the guy and they live happily ever after and her father deals with his emotional detachment, with books i dont mind so much if there isnt a total difinitve ending because thats the point of books - to use your imagination. But with movies it takes all of the visualising the scenes and characters away so it does not require any imagintation what so ever so i like it to be clear like many childrens stories also have difinitive endings - cinderella, snow white, repunzel, rumplestiltskin (sp?) you get the point. Dont get me wrong it doesnt have to be a happy ending like i also love the book JESSICA by Bryce Courtney and that most definitly does not have a happy ending but once again - diffinitive.

Our group came to the general consensus that a difinitive ending was very important also a good storyline we also had things like developed editing, good camera techniques there were also other ideas such as drama good acting and emotion.
